Job Description
The Data Functional Analyst & BI Developer plays a key role in the development of data solutions (data warehouses and data marts) for NIHDI (INAMI-RIZIV).
- He/she is in regular contact with the company to understand the needs of the company and translate them into data and technical requirements. He/she has sufficient practical expertise with the Microsoft SQL Server BI technology stack. This includes knowledge of Power BI and Azure databricks.
- The Data Functional Analyst & BI Developer is part of the Data Office, a central organization providing data services in the various NIHDI business areas.
- He/she works as part of a Scum team in close collaboration with the Proxy Product Owner and the Data Architect of the project.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate and conduct interviews with the company’s end-users to determine functional and non-functional requirements for BI solutions.
- Translate business needs into logical and physical data models with appropriate documentation.
- Works with the Data Architect to translate requirements into functional and technical specifications.
- Design, build, deploy and maintain BI solutions according to established standards (data integration, data warehouse, data marts) in accordance with functional and non-functional requirements (performance, data volume).
- Test the analytical solution, perform troubleshooting, provide adequate maintenance and technical documentation.
- Create visualizations and reports for requested projects in Power BI or SSRS.
- Conduct prototype reviews and demonstrations including training on the data model to professional users.
- Works with the Project Manager (PL) throughout the project lifecycle to ensure proper implementation in an agile and pragmatic approach.
Key Competencies
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in functional data analysis and BI development in the Microsoft BI stack (including SSIS/SSAS).
- Minimum 7 years of data engineering experience with Azure Databricks, using Python.
- Ability to translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
- Strong experience in data modeling (logical and physical modeling).
- Good experience in data warehouse design (Kimball dimensional modeling).
- Very good knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (from a development point of view), SQL queries, T-SQL.
- Very good knowledge of Python, in a data engineering context.
- Good understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL framework.
- Experience with visualization and reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI and SSRS.
- A first experience in data management (Master Data Management) and data quality management is a plus.
- Knowledge of the following tools is a plus: modeling tool (e.g. Enterprise Architect), Azure data analysis tools (Azure Data Factory, Databricks,…).
- A first experience in working in agile project mode is a plus.
