Job Description
As a Software Asset Manager (SAM), you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the organization’s software assets, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, and maximizing cost efficiency. You will work closely with IT, procurement, finance, and legal teams to establish best practices in software lifecycle management, vendor negotiations, and compliance auditing.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of software assets, from procurement to retirement.
- Develop and implement strategies for software cost optimization and license management.
- Monitor and track software usage and entitlement to ensure optimal utilization.
- Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and minimize legal risks.
- Conduct internal audits to verify software compliance and prepare for vendor audits.
- Manage relationships with software vendors and third-party providers.
- Evaluate software contracts, renewal terms, and pricing models.
- Utilize Software Asset Management (SAM) tools such as Flexera, ServiceNow SAM, Snow Software, or Microsoft SCCM.
- Generate reports on software usage, compliance risks, and cost savings opportunities.
- Establish governance frameworks for software procurement and usage.
- Educate stakeholders on software compliance best practices.
